Raccoon Ridge Studio
"Painting Classes"

This is our home from the front (facing the cliff) , My studio is the room on the left.

This picture was taken from the top of the hill.  The studio is the addition on the right side of the building.

This is the inside of the studio looking  east from the house.

During the Christmas-New Year break, I like to rearrange and organize things in the studio.
This year is no different.  I will put some revised pictures up when I am done!

I am Judi Pearl - the teacher....
Painting should be fun! My feeling is, if the class is happy, they will learn a lot easier and feel better about their work. There are enough difficulties in life, so class should be fun,
as well as instructional & informative.  You also need to paint something that you will enjoy!

"Don't limit your potential, or you allow yourself
to only be as successful as you think you deserve to be!
Just call me ...Bristles the painting raccoon!

If you want to learn to paint, send me an e-mail at raccoonridge@artlover.com. I really love to teach. Classes offered are for Acrylic, Oil and China Painting.    After my kidney transplant, I was forced to give up my oil painting  on the advice of the doctors to protect my new kidney. Even though I painted with  oils for 30 years, it was a pleasant surprise how much like oil painting acrylics can be with all of the mediums and gels available without the dangers, smells and long drying time

China Painting Class: Each new student starts with a soft flowing floral on a 8" - 10" plate or tile.  After they get the feel of the brushes and  feel confident with the strokes...it is time to move on to tea pots, cups and saucers, vases etc., and any subject they would like to learn. I suggest getting very comfortable before going with portraits, but wildlife and landscapes are great.  Porcelain work is fired for the student at a  minimal fee.    You can also paint on glass lamps!

Acrylic Painting Class:  Each student starts with an 8"x10" to 11"x14" canvas for their first painting.  The subject is a landscape with a building of their choice - possibly an old barn, mill, covered bridge, etc.  With this type of painting they learn sky, clouds, foliage, trees and wood/texture.  After this, they can jump into anything that they want to do depending on their abilities and how comfortable and confident they feel.

When someone starts in the class, the seat is theirs as long as they want to come.  I feel that everyone has a God given talent and it is our place in life to run with it!  It is my job to help.  One of the most satisfying parts of teaching is to see the thrill someone feels when they complete a picture when they didn't even think they could "draw a stick man"!
