In
everything both great and small
We see
the hand of God in all.
Helen Steiner Rice
I
started
drawing when I was old enough to hold a pencil. When I was no older
than
8 years old I used to get in trouble for sending in the pictures in
magazines
with the title "Draw me". My Mother would get letters from art
schools,
not a good thing in those days! In my young days in Wisconsin, I would
lie in the grass and look for pictures to evolve out of the clouds
during
the day and the lines in the ceiling of Grandma's old farm house at
night.
I have never lacked for imagination, inspiration or the desire to
paint something. I love painting anything from landscapes,
florals,
still life, wildlife - portraits! After many requests by people
to
teach, 9 years ago I started teaching 7 classes a week of oil, acrylic
and porcelain painting. Teaching has become almost as exciting as
painting! Now I did say ALMOST!! I really do live to paint
and find it one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in my
life.
Over
the
past 40 years I have painted as much as possible, but it wasn't until
my
kidney transplant that the "urgency" set in. When a person is faced
with
their own mortality, it makes you realize that every moment counts. I
have
no time to waste, so I am either painting, learning or teaching! "GO
FOR
IT!" When I have new students start the class and they tell me what
they
want to learn and would like to paint - I just tell them - Go for
it!!
Nothing to it but to do it!. It is better to have tried and
failed
than never to have tried at all. In the past couple of
years
I have found a new talent as well. I have been writing poems
about
my life. I have always wanted to write a book.....but seems I
have
been doing it in the form of poems. You can check them out on the
"Writings" page of the website. I hope you will scope
around
our web site and see all the paintings that were painted with love by
my
students and myself.
A new passion of mine has been the art of writing poems. I
sprained
both ankles at one time and was forced to sit on a bed with no access
to
paint. I always carry a paper and pen in case I want to write
letters.
I just started writing my thoughts and the next thing I knew, I had
written
a poem. I have now written about many things about my life,
people
in my life and just things in life in general. It is a great way
to purge your feelings. If you check the "writings" page you will
find many of my poems there as well as a list of the other poems
written
that are available to read.
This
is my husband Jim - called "Ted" by many of his friends. He
is not only my best friend, but my biggest critic. If he doesn't
like something I am working on - he sometimes gives his opinion before
it is even blocked in!! Without his strong support through all my
difficulties, I don't believe I could have made it.
He
likes
to check out all the student's work as well. Likes the diversity
of their artistic choices.
Pool
is Jim's game. He has always been an avid pool player winning lots of
tournaments
along the way.
His other passion is "Drag Racing in the NHRA!" He has turned me
onto this as well and I love going with him. I love to see all of
the women race drivers!
This is our grandson Travis James
"TJ"....
He is a product of our son Wade and his wife Heather.
He is the most prescious gift that we could ever
get. He is soon to be 5 and a real "dandy"! We love
him so much.
Here he is with his ball and bat. He plays soccor, basketball
& T-Ball!!!
Summer of 2007 at our house.... TJ & our little
dog Scooter

TJ & his Daddy (He is a chip off the old block for sure!)
.
TJ
Tj helping Grandma pant her picture... he is a budding
artist!!!

This
beautiful
lady was my Grandma Pearl. She was one of
the
most loved and wonderful people in my life. My memories of farm
life
in the Kickapoo Valley in Wisconsin were with her. She died much
too young at the age of 62 yrs old. Gram always tried to instil
in
us to go for our dreams and trust in the Lord and life would be
ok.
I was blessed to have had her in my life. She loved to
sing,
laugh and look for the light at the end of the dark tunnel....
This is my Mom and Dad when they came to
visit.
My Mom is one of a kind and lot of spirit!!!
This is "Gangster" my husbands German Shephard.
He is his buddy and gives him all his pleasure.

This was NBC - one of our peacocks. We had
3 - NBC, CBS & ABC
When we moved north, we had to get rid of them. They are now
living on
a 500 acre ranch out west!
Romans 8.28 - All things work together
for
good
to them that love God, to them who are called
according to his purpose.
